Around Thanksgiving during kindergarten, my teacher informed the parents that each child should bring a food starting with the first letter of his or her name to share with the class during a Kindergarten Feast.
Like many of the projects sent home by teachers, this became a parent project. I doubt that I knew foods that started with the letter K at that point in my life. The whole learn letters thing was rather a shock to my system.
I don't even remember now what my mom sent.
But years later while watching my youngest child, the King of Condiment Consumption, with a bottle of ketchup in one hand, I realized that she should have sent ketchup.
Then we too could have squirted and licked ketchup off of our hand.
